Michael Cantwell, P.T., D.P.T., C.M.P.

Michael graduated with his Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University in 2002, earning the Faculty Recognition Award for his class. He also attended undergraduate school at N.A.U., completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science with Summa Cum Laude honors in 1998. In addition to his primary interest in outpatient orthopedics, other clinical experience includes aquatic physical therapy, lymphedema, and chronic pain. Michael became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2002, and remained a member until 2005. He earned his Certified Mulligan Practitioner (C.M.P.) credentials in 2008.
Michael worked with John Bonica, P.T., C.M.P., N.Z.R.P., at Rockwood Physical Therapy for over 13 years, directly from whom he expanded his skills in mechanical diagnosis and treatment through specialist manual therapy mobilizations and spinal manipulation. Michael was the clinical director at Rockwood Physical Therapy, and has thoroughly enjoyed his role as clinical instructor for physical therapist interns from N.A.U. and Stanley Paris’ University of St. Augustine since 2003.
Michael is the founder and fitness/conditioning coach of HoopFit, an exercise class for the Portland adult basketball league. Michael spends his leisure time with his family, including his wife and two sons. He also enjoys Cross Fit, basketball, golf, tennis, and softball.
Chris Franson, P.T.A.
Chris Franson received his Associate of Applied Science degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Mt. Hood Community College in June 2001. Prior to obtaining his PTA degree, he was in the Marine Corps from 1992 to 1996. Chris has extensive training in therapeutic exercise, along with his background of football, wrestling, and coaching sports. While working with Dr. Michael Cantwell since 2004 he has become proficient in manual therapy techniques, particularly soft tissue massage and Mulligan mobilization techniques. Chris’ well-rounded skill set is a great benefit to our patients.
In his free time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family including his wife, two sons, and his rescued dog Rudy. Chris and his family like to camp, hike and enjoy all outdoor activities that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
