Portland Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Rehabilitation
on Wednesday, October 25, 2017Portland residents who are anticipating an upcoming surgery are often tasked with something known as pre-habilitation. Pre-habilitation is the process of optimizing the function of an affected area ahead of an upcoming operation. Operations for such conditions as disc herniation (with or without microdiscectomy/laminectomy/fusion), total knee/hip replacement, and rotator cuff repair report great success with the inclusion of pre-habilitation. In some cases, vigorous pre-habilitation can result in the postponement or prevention of recommended surgeries.
Post-operative rehabilitation is frequently recommended to provide relief for those Portland residents who have undergone an operation resulting in decreased mobility and post-op pain and soreness. In these cases, physical therapy can restore function, decrease pain, and bring the patient back to mobility free from discomfort.
Renew Physical Therapy is proud to serve Portland residents who have undergone surgeries resulting in limited mobility, as well as those who may be facing surgeries for issues that could have a better surgical outcome with dedicated pre-habilitation.
